Aurora's Style Sphere

In this article, I’m going to explore different looks you can wear for that special date with your other half — from casual, to semi-dressy, to very dressy.
February is the month when things start to pick up slightly. Days are a bit longer, and spring feels a little closer (in the Irish calendar, it officially starts on the 1st of February, although the weather is still cold and mostly wet, unfortunately…). Still, February somehow feels different from January. That first month of the year can be tough for many of us: days are short and freezing cold, plans are scarce, and there aren’t many opportunities to go out and show off a cute outfit.
But February — especially around the 14th — is when we start planning dates, lunches, dinners, or even a full Valentine’s weekend away. So, if you’re in need of outfit inspiration for this special occasion, scroll down and read on!
Outfits for casual occasions
If you’re the kind of person who prefers to spend Valentine’s Day at home watching a romantic movie, ordering a takeaway, or preparing a nice dinner in the comfort of your own place, I’ve got you covered. You might still want to dress up a little for the occasion, even if you’re staying in. In that case, a cosy wool jumper in red or pink — or even one with heart details — paired with wide-leg jeans and runners (or cute slippers) would be ideal.

If, on the other hand, you want maximum comfort, I highly recommend investing in a classy silk pyjama set in your favourite colour. You’ll feel like a million dollars without compromising on comfort! A knitted co-ord with wide-leg trousers and a matching top would also work perfectly.

Outfits for semi-formal occasions
If you have a lunch date, afternoon tea, or a casual dinner at the pub, a lace asymmetric cami top paired with straight-leg jeans and ankle boots or heels is a classic combination that never fails. It’s timeless, elegant, and makes you look put together without trying too hard.

Another perfect ensemble for this type of occasion is a pair of straight leather trousers — black, or in a trendy chocolate or burgundy shade. Pair them with a classic white T-shirt, a blazer, and heels or ankle boots. Chunky gold or silver jewellery is key to elevating this look.

A classic leather midi skirt (whether pencil-style or more voluminous — whichever you prefer) paired with a crisp white shirt and a short blazer, finished with knee-high boots, is another dreamy semi-formal option.

Outfits for formal occasions
If your preference is a romantic dinner in a fancy setting and you love to glam up, these curated pieces are perfect for you. A long silk dress in red or burgundy is a timeless choice that will never let you down. Silky fabrics are also very on trend at the moment, making this an especially stylish option. Pair it with high heels, a clutch, and a short faux-fur jacket, and you’re ready to go.

Polka-dot dresses are also very popular right now. If you’re not a fan of red or pink and prefer this feminine, flirty pattern, there’s a great selection available on the high street at the moment. If you’re tall, a midi or long style will flatter your figure beautifully. If you’re petite, a shorter polka-dot dress will fit you like a glove.

For the most classic ladies, a little black dress is always the perfect choice. You can add a touch of modernity and sophistication by choosing an asymmetric black dress in a velvety fabric with lace detailing on the hem or bust.

A luxurious satin midi skirt paired with a silk cami top, blazer, and stilettos is another stylish and safe option for those moments when you’re not sure what to wear. You’ll look elegant and sophisticated with these wardrobe staples that truly belong in everyone’s closet.

To conclude, there are endless outfit combinations to try on Valentine’s Day — more classic or more fashion-forward, more glam or more casual. It all depends on how you feel and the image you want to project that day.
